The ladies game is growing

With the success of the England team as UEFA Women's Euro 2022 champions and reaching the final at the FIFA Ladies World Cup, its little wonder that ladies football across all categories is growing.

This is certainly true for ladies walking football where clubs I attend have had enquiries from ladies wanting to try walking football.

As an example of progress, Woking, an existing walking football club, is now advertising a Ladies Walking Football session to run in addition to their existing days. The existing days is mainly men but there have been ladies who have attended in the past.

Having dedicated groups and mixed groups is definitely a way forward and if you fast forward a few years, I'm sure ladies walking football will have grown well.

As a final note, one byproduct of a growing ladies game is that pitches, which are already at a premium, will become harder to secure. Best start booking those pitches now...
